Future Continuous or Future Perfect
First, read Jack's itinerary for tomorrow. Then, for each sentence, choose either Future Continuous or Future Perfect to complete it. Number one has been done as an example.
  1. At 8am, he WILL BE LEAVING home.
  2. By 8.30am, he WILL HAVE ARRIVED AT THE AIRPORT (arrive airport).
  3. At 9am, he WILL BE WAITING FOR HIS PLANE (wait).
  4. At 9.30am, he WILL BE LEAVING FOR PARIS (leave).
  5. At 10am, he WILL BE FLYING TO PARIS (fly).
  6. At 11.10am, he WILL HAVE ARRIVED (arrive) in Paris.
  7. At 1.30pm, the meeting WILL HAVE STARTED (start).
  8. At 7.50pm, he WILL BE EATING (eat).
  9. At 10.15pm, he WILL HAVE LEFT (leave) the restaurant.
  10. At midnight, he WILL BE SLEEPING (sleep).
Present Perfect Simple and Continuous
For each sentence, choose the best form, either Present Perfect Simple or Present Perfect Continuous.
  1. I've been cleaning this room all morning and now I'm exhausted!
  2. Hurry up Jane! You've only finished two questions and we have to write the answers to five.
  3. Tony has been living with his uncle recently while he looks for a new apartment.

Past Tense Worksheet
You have to fill each space with either the past continuous, past perfect simple or past perfect continuous.
  1. I was exhausted at the end of the exam. I HAD BEEN WRITING for over two hours.
  2. When thieves stole my favourite leather jacket, I was really upset. I HAD HAD it for over ten years.

  6. No-one even noticed when I got home. They WERE ALL WATCHING the big game on TV and obviously the dog HAD BEEN BARKING for over an hour. I was furious.
  7. Sue wasn't in the sales department when I started working here. She HAD BEEN WORKING in accounting for over five years but wanted a change.
  8. You got to the airport too late! The plane HAD ALREADY ARRIVED and the twins WERE WAITING for you! How embarrassing!
Passive Verb Patterns
Fill in the gaps with a form of the passive. The tense could be past, present or future.
  1. Many rock stars say the real thrill is that they enjoy BEING WATCHED by thousands of adoring fans.
  2. Before BEING RECYCLED, glass bottles are thoroughly washed and the labels ARE REMOVED.
  3. I'm sorry this office is so dirty but it can't BE CLEANED until tomorrow morning at the earliest.
  4. Any teacher who hits a student should BE SACKED immediately.
  5. John's big dream is that he wants TO BE DISCOVERED by a big time music producer.
  6. Jak WAS FIRED from the local car wash because, even though he hadn't paid, he let his friend's car BE WASHED.
  7. The factory is losing a lot of money every week and IS GOING TO BE SHUT/IS BEING SHUT next Thursday.

Active or Passive?
Read the news report and choose the correct verb form.
Millions of dollars' worth of damage has been caused by a storm which swept across the north of the United States last night. The River Reiner burst its banks after heavy rain. Many people were rescued from the floods by fire-fighters, who received hundreds of calls for help.
Wind speeds reached ninety miles an hour in some places. Roads were blocked by fallen trees, and electricity lines were brought down, leaving thousands of homes without electricity.
'Everything possible is being done to get things back to normal,' a spokesman said.
One young girl was taken to hospital after she broke her leg. She has now been sent home.

"Used To" Worksheet.
For each sentence, choose a variety of "used to", "be used to" or "get used to".

Relative Clauses Worksheet - Defining and Non-Defining
Use these prompts to write one sentences for each question. Sometimes you need a defining relative clause (i.e. without commas) and sometimes you need a non-defining relative clause - with commas.
Examples:
Defining - We went and had dinner at that restaurant that you sister recommended.
Non-Defining - We went and had dinner at the "Three Roses" restaurant, which your sister recommended.

Leaving Out Relative Pronouns
Look at these sentences, which all use relative pronouns. Which ones can be omitted?
  1. That was the place I'd seen you. (using "in" makes the sentence better)
  2. Hannah went to get the book I'd lent her the day before.
  3. It was raining again. The rain always reminded her of the city where they went for their honeymoon.
(needs "to" for omission)
  1. Maxine was furious. "Tell that brother of yours, who I never want to see again, that it's over, finished!"

Relative Pronouns - Letter Of Complaint
